Advocacy

We advocate for resources and policy changes needed to give all girls a secondary education.

We seek to change systems, policies and practices that prevent girls from accessing 12 years of free, safe, quality education. We influence governments to invest in girls’ education and hold them accountable for their commitments.

Our Priorities

Changing social norms

We strive for a world where all girls go to school for 12 years — and gender bias no longer limits their potential in education.

Increasing education funding

We call on governments to fulfill their promises to fund education and ensure the global financing system supports investment in education.

Improving education quality

We want education systems to challenge gender inequality and help build girls' resilience to climate change, conflict and other shocks.

How we advocate

We promote change and accountability at every level.

We influence decision-makers to invest in and keep their commitments to girls' education and push for gender equality in education at the local, national and global levels.

We support collective action.

We build the influence and collective voice of education activists to lead the fight for girls’ education in the countries with the greatest need.

We bring girls into the conversation.

We equip girls with the skills to advocate for education and gender equality in their communities and provide platforms for the world to hear their voices.

Flagship Report

Making the grade:
Girls’ Education Report Cards

The world is off-track to provide 12 years of free, safe, quality education to all girls by 2030.

Malala Fund’s report cards assess progress on girls’ education in 120 lower-income countries and track progress against aid commitments to girls’ education in donor countries. They are a resource for advocates who want to understand the world’s slow progress on girls’ education — and demand action from leaders to remedy it.
